Our Story

The Occhiuto family’s passion for food dates back to the 1960’s when Giuseppe Occhiuto began introducing premium Italian cheeses to the Canadian market. Always searching for the best Italian producers with the highest quality standards, he ensured that the finest products of Italy could be enjoyed on Canadian tables, whether in restaurants or at home.

In the early years, Giuseppe Occhiuto imported the cheeses that Italian immigrants had left behind in their homeland, allowing them to reconnect with the flavours of home in Canada.

After more than 50 years, we now import not only the cheeses that Italian immigrants once knew and loved, but also a wide variety of artisanal cheeses from the Northern Italian Alps to the southern island of Sicily — products sought after by Canadians everywhere, including some of the country’s top chefs.

Today, the family business proudly continues through Mr. Occhiuto’s son and grandchildren, who remain committed to preserving his passion, tradition, and dedication to quality for future generations. Carrying forward the family legacy, they continue to bring the authentic flavours of Italy to homes and restaurants across Canada.

From fresh Burrata flown in weekly from Puglia to the highest quality Parmigiano Reggiano aged 24 to 30 months from Reggio Emilia, and many more exceptional cheeses, the Occhiuto family remains dedicated to offering only the finest Italian products.
